Review: Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is an Overlooked Bop | Travel

By Adventure Alex

Walt Disney World’s All-Star Music Resort in Orlando, Florida, is the perfect spot for Mickey Mouse to revisit his days as an orchestra conductor. Confused? More on that later.

For now, let’s explore our stay at All-Star Music Resort so you know what to expect.

Introduction

My out-of-my-league wife and I wanted a short getaway for the Thanksgiving holiday. We spent around $186 per night for a room at the All-Star Music Resort. Remember, the stay was during Thanksgiving holiday weekend so it was very busy. We have seen room rates that were far cheaper at this resort during other times of the year, particularly when schools are in session. There is lots to explore and plenty of stories to be made.

All-Star Music Resort opened in 1994 as the second of the three All-Star Resorts (the other All-Star Resorts are All-Star Sports and All-Star Movies, which are a parking lot’s distance away). The two other resorts in the Value category are Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort, although these two interconnected resorts are about a 10-minute drive from All-Star Music. The resort, as with the other value resorts, shares giant novelty decorations. All-Star Music Resort was divided into several themes: Calypso, Jazz, Country, Broadway, and Rock.

Room

We had a check in time of 3:00 P.M. Our room, located in the Rock Inn themed area, was standard, with a single bed next to an optional pull-out bed, along with basic amenities like a television, hair dryer, running water, and electricity. You may want to call ahead and ask staff to put a message on the television screen for your arrival. For me, I surprised my wife with a Happy Anniversary message. The room is also equipped with a “Hey Mickey” device which is an Amazon Alexa’s Disney-obsessed cousin. We used “Hey Mickey” to play music, soundscapes, and to tell jokes.

Amenities & Shopping

The Resort offered a playground, the Note’able Arcade, and free movie nights. There are two swimming pools in All-Star Music Resort. Accessing the pools at the neighboring All-Star Sports Resort and All-Star Movies Resort is simple if new scenery is desired. We did not take advantage of the pool because, for the few days out of the year in Florida, there was cold weather.

The gift shop at All-Star Music resort, called Maestro Mickey, is more or less the same as the other All-Star Resorts.

Dining

Dining was cafeteria-style called the Intermission Food Court, located in the same building as the lobby. For breakfast, we ordered Avocado Breakfast Bowls for $10.49 each. The fanciest part of this meal was that the tater tots were called “Potato Barrels”. Affordable compared to other resort dining options and the food was good and filling. My wife bought a cup of Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee Regular for $4.29. In total, breakfast cost around $25 to $30 for the two of us.

How does All-Star Music Resort compare to the other value resorts?

All-Star Music Resort is almost identical to All-Star Movies and All-Star Sports. The only real difference are the themes.

Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort have bus services as well as the Skyliner. The All-Star resorts only have bus transportation available, so it may feel a bit more isolated. Depending on the time of year, it may also be considerably busy; for example, there were long lines at the bus depots at the All-Star Music Resort so we opted to drive. We stopped by the dining options at Pop Century Resort and the Art of Animation Resort and found it to be almost identical to the dining options at the All-Star resorts, with the same cafeteria-style dining format. The menus had many of the same food items too.

Conclusion

We checked out of All Star Music Resort using the My Disney Experience app without any hassle. Our check-out time was 11:00 A.M.

In conclusion, it is recommended to give All-Star Music Resort a try if you are hoping to explore affordable and comfortable options while maintaining general access to neighboring Disney experiences. Finding the cheapest room at either the All-Star Music Resort, or All-Star Sports Resort, is recommended because these two resorts are easily accessible from one another and the rooms are practically the same (we have not stayed at the All-Star Movies Resort). The Value resorts are overlooked compared to Moderate resorts (examples: Coronado Springs Resort, Port Orleans Resort) and the Deluxe resorts (examples: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge). However, for the price, comfortability, and access to other Disney experiences, the All-Star Music Resort is a deal you can’t beat when exploring Disney World on a budget. We used the money we saved by staying at the All-Star Music Resort to enjoy other Disney experiences.
